Capital Markets

Capital markets laterals, recruited nationwide.

An IPO lawyer, a high-yield lawyer, and a shelf-takedown lawyer bring three distinct résumés to the same title.

The Search

What your offerings say about you.

Lateral Lock opens with the offerings themselves: issuer or underwriter side, equity or debt, registered or private, and how much of the disclosure and diligence you carried. Those answers decide which groups are worth approaching.

  • The product you want more of.Issuer-side disclosure and diligence is a different record from underwriter-side work on the underwriting agreement. A shift from investment-grade debt to high-yield, or from debt to equity, gets named up front so we can look for groups where that shift is realistic.
  • Checking each group. We look into the platform, the work mix across products, the issuers and banks among its clients, which offices handle the work, and where the practice seems to be heading.
  • Presenting the work.We order the resume the way a capital-markets group reads a book: product, side, then your role in the disclosure or the negotiation. You approve every resume edit before the resume goes out. The cover letter leads with the offerings that firm prioritizes and goes out with the submission unless you ask to see it first.
  • Discretion and close.Your search stays confidential until you approve a firm. We prep you for interviews and stay involved through negotiation of the offer.
